The annual display of the perseid meteor shower is upon us this saturday, sunday, monday and tuesday night (peaking before sunrise monday morning)... take a look if you have never seen shooting stars before (I am always amazed at how many people haven't).
A tiny speck the size of a grain of sand will hit our atmosphere travelling at 30 miles per second (1,800 mph!) and, due to the friction, air around it will superheat and ignite thus creating the tail of the commet. you have to admit. that is impressive!
Make a wish and maybe it will come true.!
